Hello to all! There was such a problem - I am developing one web project, it uses a couple of dozen different TTF fonts. The customer is very worried that some of the fonts are not free and you have to pay license fees for them. The site will be cross-browser, that is, it will have to work in any browser and any OS. The question is - can anyone met on the Internet a list of free TTF fonts for Windows, Linux and MacOS operating systems? I would be very grateful to those who help to get such a list, since Google search did not give any special results - it immediately offers to download a free font.

Closed due to the fact that it is necessary to reformulate the question so that it is possible to give an objectively correct answer by the participants of Kromster , Vadim Ovchinnikov , user194374, aleksandr barakin , fori1ton Jan 10 '17 at 8:05

The question gives rise to endless debates and discussions based not on knowledge, but on opinions. To get an answer, rephrase your question so that it can be given an unambiguously correct answer, or delete the question altogether. If the question can be reformulated according to the rules set out in the certificate , edit it .

  • I will clarify a little question - only those TTF fonts that are used by these operating systems by default are of interest! - spoilt
  • If these fonts are already in the OS by default, why embed them? - user6550
  • See, let's say the user chooses the font "Helvetica" , which is in MacOS, and he himself works under Windows XP - he will have problems when opening the saved file with the site. That's why I'm looking for a list of free TTF fonts that are used in Windows, Linux and MacOS. So that the missing fonts could be embedded in the generated file and it worked without problems on the listed operating systems. - spoilt

I have found a list of fonts that are used in Windows , but how to find out which ones are paid and which ones can be used for free?

Here I found a list of fonts that are used in MacOS . The same question!

With Linux it's harder, now I'll try to look for what fonts are used by default in Ubuntu.
