I'm trying to create LiveUSB with Ubuntu 11.10. And I have some problems about this. In general, I do it for the third time, but the problem does not disappear. I have a flash drive on 8 GB, I broke it into two sections:

1) 5.5 гб с FS ext2( для системы ) 2) 2.2 гб под свап( Linux-Swap, раздел подкачки )

After installing on a USB flash drive and the subsequent launch of ubunt from there, it starts to hang very much ... what could be the matter? Where is my mistake, tell me, please!

PS Before that, I tried the ext4 file system instead of Ext2, but firstly the problem did not disappear, and secondly, the journaling file system for LiveUSB does not quite fit, as far as I know. I tried without a swap partition, but to no avail ...

  1. It is necessary to mount part of the system folders (/ var / tmp and other frequently changed) in tmpfs - after all, the flash drive is not intended for permanent rewriting
  2. Try on a different, more powerful computer, maybe there is a problem with USB (it works at low speed)
  3. Check with the top and iotop utilities - what causes the slowdown

    Download UNetbootin, insert the flash drive. Specify the image. If you need to save user data, then there is an option, you need to select only the volume.
