  • It is difficult to say exactly what to read. Each book is focused on a certain level of tasks, there is no such book in which there will be all answers, even Google will not answer everything. In practice, I can say that you read the errors carefully, they are pretty informative everywhere, do not reject the manuals and possible system prompts for solving problems, usually software developers assume possible errors and everything is solved without witchcraft. IMHO it is better to look for some reference books, but in general everything comes with experience, and the solution of a particular problem is also often privately solved. - trec

As a tip for a novice admin, find out which Linux distribution will be used in your company. Install it at home - this will be the first experience. If you are afraid, put it to start on a virtual machine - the latest versions of the free Vmware Player allow you to create virtual machines of any configuration.
