Please correct the question so that it describes the specific problem with sufficient detail to determine the appropriate answer. Do not ask a few questions at once. See “How to ask a good question?” For clarification. If the question can be reformulated according to the rules set out in the certificate , edit it .

Ideal, if there is a more experienced admin in the state and if a critical situation, then to him to run. Well, so register on the forums for admins, collect a blogger for yourself in the RSS, jabber - find admins, you can have a few, so that there is where to go in real time, well, and of course Google, without it anywhere.
And finally, if you are sitting on Win, then it’s time for you to get off of it and go completely both at home and at work on Linux.
- And what can you read for a start? For example, the situation is - a computer outside the network. What to do? 1. Check wiring 2. Cables What else could be causing? - new_russian_man
- It is difficult to say exactly what to read. Each book is focused on a certain level of tasks, there is no such book in which there will be all answers, even Google will not answer everything. In practice, I can say that you read the errors carefully, they are pretty informative everywhere, do not reject the manuals and possible system prompts for solving problems, usually software developers assume possible errors and everything is solved without witchcraft. IMHO it is better to look for some reference books, but in general everything comes with experience, and the solution of a particular problem is also often privately solved. - trec

- And finally - there was a subjective opinion, I do not in any way impose. And if our hero has a Win-network, then I cannot say that he was damn lucky, but even if Win, then all my previous tips are still relevant. - trec
- @new_russian_man that actually should have been expected. Do not worry, it will be easier further. - trec
The main advice is to be patient. In administration, the main problem is people. They need to be tactful and with the understanding that they are not specialists. You do not know accounting, and the accountant is floating in computers. It should be so. If with a smile and patience, then you will be forgiven even some incompetence. And technical problems can always be solved by searching in Google or asking a question.

As a tip for a novice admin, find out which Linux distribution will be used in your company. Install it at home - this will be the first experience. If you are afraid, put it to start on a virtual machine - the latest versions of the free Vmware Player allow you to create virtual machines of any configuration. Slowly start to understand - set up the newly installed system, sort it out with the help of the Internet in all the questions arising during the installation. And so on ... Good luck!
- oneno-no-no, better put on the real, that if something happened, then rake the pens, and not create a new Wirth car =) - AlexDenisov
- @ 1101_debian I am afraid that in the latter case there will be a temptation to "format everything to such a mother" and install Windows))) - gote
- oneNatural selection, epta =) - AlexDenisov
- I absolutely agree with @ 1101_debian, you need to understand the real problems and not virtual ones ... although it will be tempting to demolish everything and install Windows, but this will also be a certain hemorrhoid and that means experience, and so closed the virtual machine and go ahead and climb Windows :) - GLAGOLA
- I will allow myself to express disagreement.) If there is a certain experience, and I’m sure that I’m doing what, or, at least, there is another computer connected to the Internet, on which you can dig in Google if there is a comrade who can help in a difficult moment, then - please. But when there is nothing of this, then you can very seriously “get into” with a real system. Remember, I had such a case, at a time when there was no-only dial-up. A system (a virus under Windows 98) has flown, and there is no system disk or floppy disk at hand. Hemorrhagic was the same, while I was looking for a Win98 distr in our town .. - gote
You need to start working properly. Those. with training.
There are educational institutions that train specialists. It is specialists, and not courses on the Internet "How to learn how to manage the IT structure of an enterprise in 3 days!"
The law of life: Theory + Practice = Specialist .
- "sysodminy" strongly disagree with my statement. Such people never liked to learn. (In my department, even if such people got into it, they didn’t stretch for a long time ...) - I_CaR
