    The AppStore has an API that allows you to search for applications. For example, this request will return to you all applications available in the USA, in the name of which there is a chrome :

    From the answer, you can pull out the version of the application and compare it with the current one.

    You can not request from the AppStore, but place this information on your server - using wsdl \ soap for example or just to check it by file creation date
