Hello everyone, I can not figure out with storyboards. Google is already the third day, I did it on manuals - nothing happens. Almost all manuals on xcode 4.x, and I work in the fifth. As I understand it, there is some difference in the implementation between xcode 4 and 5. Even the simplest schemes do not start, I cannot understand the principle of storyboards at all (generally understandable, but how to implement something is a stupor), so I don’t understand why nothing works. Please help me figure out the difference between xib and storyboard. What is better to work with and under what circumstances? All the books on iOS 6 that I have are all with xib examples that I can't even run in the 5th xcode. Apple did not find adequate documentation, everything is confusing. On xcode 5 + IOS 7 books, as I understand it, will not be released soon, probably a couple of months to wait. You need to implement something like this, the cells in the tables are static.

    In order:

    • storyboards everywhere are functionally the same
    • the difference between version 4 and version 5 of Xcode is, in general, the functionality and appearance of the design has been improved. Otherwise, almost everything is available in the same kit.
    • The xibs are more convenient, the storyboards are simpler, already discussed . Navigation and table functionality, for example, is implemented in slightly different ways. For storyboards you can download and see section seven , where you will already understand how it works. There are also many examples of xibs on the net. Slightly more code, but more understandable implementation logic. You can also write everything without visual representations at all, all with code (sometimes without it in any way)
    • Apple has nothing confused in the documentation, hit all the questions in Google, you will find the answers guaranteed. There are descriptions and explanations with pictures, code samples and finished projects with test implementations.
    • in Xcode 5, .xibs were hidden as a default option when creating a project, however you can also use them. Google add UIViewController

    I recommend to study work with xib. Pretty well described with examples in the book: " Programming under iOS. For professionals ."
