I wrote my first application, it is a stopwatch with a timer. Now I want to put it in the Play Market and do not even know what's next. Basis - the paid version, but I think to make another trimmed free.

In general, as I understand it, this is a very crucial step (very often you have to see bad applications almost in the top, and good and interesting applications with only 10-50 downloads). But I do not know what to do in the first place? Where to post reviews? Is it worth it to invest in promotion (initially decided to promote for free)? The application also has an English version, and if it is more or less clear with the Russian-language version, then with the English one there is a complete zero.

  • Most likely, this question does not correspond to the subject of Stack Overflow in Russian, according to the rules described in the certificate .
If the question can be reformulated according to the rules set out in the certificate , edit it .

  • Based on my own experience and the experience of companies that have managed to work, I can say that most users prefer the free version with IAP to unlock certain features, rather than a separately paid full-featured version and a separate free light. - falstaf
  • I vote for the closure of this issue as not relevant to the topic, because questions on marketing and promotion are not related to the subject of StackOverflow. - Nofate

  1. Without light version - will not work
  2. Post the light version in different appstor (now there are a lot of them). Offhand: Amazon, Samsung Apps, GetJar, Appoke, and so on.
  3. Put the Russian version on w3bsit3-dns.com
  4. Read the book about marketing Android app
  5. Do not be lazy to respond to messages from users

Stopwatch timer paid? Not worth it. This is not 2008, when there were no such applications. It was all before. Now this is not working. Big competition - big companies - lots of good apps + depending on which market you are targeting. You definitely shouldn't hope for Russian especially with the paid version. Above, you have already been advised that you can start doing, I agree, I will add just what else you can put in the localized version of English in SlideMe and you can try adding AdMob.

In addition, if you did not do this, then try: analyze the competitors of your application and add something special to your app. In short, here’s what it should be about: - It should have nice graphics and UI - As few bugs as possible and especially more beautiful - Application video - Beautiful screenshots - A feature that competitors don’t have - You can create a website / blog about the application and add a link everywhere on this site

And another great advice would be the technique of the guys from 37signals (the authors of the Rework book): make an application that you yourself will use. From here there will be a lot of useful information, because you will immediately understand your audience and the possible jambs or strengths of your application.

I think now that the application is more or less popular important idea + high-quality implementation + paid promotion in the special. sites (at least in the beginning).

    • Yes, I understand all this perfectly. I myself would not ask for money for some primitive application. And I came to the decision to do exactly the stopwatch when I saw that in the paid competition there is very low competition and they gain about 3000 downloads in 2-3 months (this is what I need). My application is already different from competitors, so there is money for what to ask) Well, right in the top there is no slag. But around the top, in high positions - completely. Especially in some non-popular categories. Anyway, thanks for the advice =) - Uraty
