Hello!

There are a couple of questions on the notorious brainbench

  1. Does anyone know if you buy a monthly subscription from them on the site ($ 99), then it turns out that I can choose any programming test and solve it as many times as I want? And after a successful attempt to get the coveted certificate?
  2. Is it possible to do the same with any other specific test (which costs $ 49)?

Closed due to the fact that it is necessary to reformulate the question so that it was possible to give an objectively correct answer by the participants cheops , Streletz , aleksandr barakin , VenZell , Grundy May 27 '16 at 11:53 .

The question gives rise to endless debates and discussions based not on knowledge, but on opinions. To get an answer, rephrase your question so that it can be given an unambiguously correct answer, or delete the question altogether. If the question can be reformulated according to the rules set out in the certificate , edit it .

  • But why do they need these (specifically these) certificates? I have a couple of 10 years now, they already have or more sales, but somehow they don’t warm the soul) - Yura Ivanov

A good addition to the resume. probably not superfluous, especially if you enter the specialty - drcosmo

Earlier it was possible to do it, I did it. You decide the same test many times, and then you show the best result for employers. One guy in the resume gave a bunch of these brainbenchs, and then in the resume indicated that he was the top 5% in c #, the top 7% in ASP.NET, and so on. I do not know how much it helped him, but at least I remembered him.

Since there are no actual data (2015-2016) in Russian except this question, I will write my opinion as the owner of that $ 99 subscription.

As far as I understand for myself, these certificates are only considered in very limited form as HR-gentlemen, since it is easy enough to take and solve specific typical tasks, thereby entering a certain top, while not having positively any real knowledge.

Quite another - when testing is carried out without prior notice directly at the interview. As far as I know, at least in one Russian company, this is the first stage of a technical interview.

For myself, I defined the use-case of this platform as follows:

If you are looking for a job, having <2 years of experience, then you quickly notice that each first organization (in an interesting professional area) requires an "excellent knowledge of C / C ++", and the metrics of this knowledge in the job description are usually not specified. Thus, you have 4-5 on a brainbench - you can say with some degree of confidence that the required degree of expertise is there and then to go for an interview with chances> 50% to get a job. Proof from LK.

PS With the right approach, the cost of an annual subscription can be miraculously reduced to $ 67 by promotional codes SUMMERSAVE (applicable, it seems, since May 28) or SAVE70 (applicable, it seems, always). At least May 2016 was relevant.
