My site has a fixed width - 960 pixels

html, body{ width: 960px; }

How do I make a footer for the entire width of the window, and not for 960 pixels? Is this even possible in this situation?

Absolute positioning relative to the page so that the footer is above the stream. At the same time, let the last content element, indented downwards, equal to the height of the footer, ensure its normal display on the page. But this is terrible. In general, of course, it is short-sighted to assign such rules for html, body.

    Inside the body, create a container for the entire site with the specified width, and leave the body full width, a block with a footer below the container of the site, make the necessary background for it, and inside this block, a block with the content of the footer width equal to the width of the site.
