Put GitLab according to the instructions https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/blob/master/doc/install/installation.md. Not without jambs, but in the end everything works. The question arose - is it necessary to configure the mail server / client, or you can somehow add new users without confirmation by email. Maybe you can just disable the confirmation request or add users handles to the database? Tell me. Or configure mail server requirement?

  • > Can you just disable the confirmation request, or add users handles to the database? I think so, but it will be necessary to pick it up, what kind of hash is used there. In general, you can try to specify user @ host as a soap and catch the link in your inbox right on the server. upd. In general, by default, the postfix will quietly hang and send everything where necessary, problems can only be due to the lack of dns-records. Well, no one bothers to specify as a smtp provider and some box on google. - etki
  • Just following this elijahpaul.co.uk/using-an-smtp-server-with-gitlab instructions set up smtp relay with gmail. But in and of itself the question disappears, but it has a place to be. But I did not understand, is this postfix sending via relay now, or gitlab?) - G0ohan
  • gitlab should contact gmail directly - etki
  • Still, you should use mail-server, because in addition to letters about the creation of users, there are still a bunch of different splashes, such as notifications about the creation of pull-requests, tasks, adding a user to the project, etc. - AlexDenisov

In the administration (/ admin) on the user panel (/ admin / users) you can confirm / block the user account via the Web-interface (the user must complete the registration procedure).
