Many of the major downloadable updates come in the form of images for discs - ISO files. Burn disks to install updates from them is a waste of consumables, because after updating the disks are no longer needed - it turns out that these are single-use disks. The question is how to properly mount images in Windows, what built-in or installable tools exist for this?

Daemon tools (Lite version is free), alcohol and many others, by the way, there is a utility from Microsoft, but I don’t remember what the name is ... And in the end, you can simply open it with the archiver - 7-zip, for example. )
I have been using Virtual CloneDrive for a long time.
Free, works well, allows you to create multiple virtual drives and can automatically mount an image after a reboot.
There is a Russian language (and not only). However, he is not really needed there.
It is better not to find UltraISO. It not only mounts, but also compresses folders in ISO. And plus this, downloaded .MDF ( .mds do not download, it is not needed), rename to ISO and mount! At the expense of Daemon tools, you should keep in mind that NOD32 swears that there is a virus , and you have to add exceptions manually. Because of the use of this program, I forever refused. Contact me, I will give download via your server directly!
- 2I would rather believe that it is better to refuse to use NOD (in favor of Kasperich and Dr.Web) than from Daemin Tools - gecube
XP: Small, Free Way to Use (Without ISO) Files without Burning Them .
Unlike the demon and alcohol do not need to overload the computer. Small, simple, nimble.
I would recommend https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/ImDisk Compact and feature-rich utility. Absolutely free and allows you to work with images of different formats. I often use it to emulate floppy disks. Download: http://www.ltr-data.se/opencode.html/#ImDisk
