In general, I put myself on a Lenovo B570 laptop, the ubuntu operating system version 11.10 (the latter at the moment), installed successfully, everything seems to be ok. But wifi does not turn on, which I just did not turn on / off in the BIOS, and on the case, and the fn + f5 key combination, and in the settings of the ubuntu itself, and re-install the OS and install the driver, but nothing helps. In general, maybe someone had a similar problem, help!

Does it make sense to try installing another version of ubuntu? Advise a proven, stable version of ubuntu which you used or are using.

Thank.

    That helped:

    1. Opening the terminal
    2. Enter sudo -s
    3. Enter password
    4. You write echo "blacklist acer_wmi" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    5. Reboot the laptop
    6. Connecting wi-fi

There was another question. Initially, Windows 7 was installed, after which the latest ubuntu 11.10 distribution was installed. So, when I start the laptop, there is no choice to start between Ubuntu and Windows, Ubuntu starts right away, I can’t log into Windows. (image with ubuntu recorded on a flash drive .

    How to enter Windows?

    • Try sudo update-grub , then sudo reboot .PS At this forum you should always ask a question in a new topic. - Nicolas Chabanovsky

We do it in steps. Install

     sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic

Reboot. Look, did it start? No, then we do

     sudo rfkill list all

See if there is a "acer-wireless: Wireless LAN" line? Yes, then we perform

     sudo modprobe -r acer-wmisudo echo "blacklist acer-wmi" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Reboot, click F2, F5, F9 to reset the BIOS settings.

My friend also complained that this version is not doing well with Wi-Fi. If I get through to him, I will supplement the answer. When I used Ubuntu 10.10, I did not observe any such problems.

        soft wicd helped me

I have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) installed.

First I installed the Wi-fi Radar package, after that there were no problems. And now (for some reason) the Wi-fi-signal "catches" itself, automatically , only (naturally, it asks for a password!

Install Ubuntu 11.10. I personally did not like. All too "fancy".

The result: I set myself 10.04, especially since it is LTS (long term support), i.e. has legitimate lasting support.

          Recomend for everybody.
