Found the answer:
Prevention of receiver buffer overflow based on a "credit" system at the link level (transmission will not start until there is enough space in the receiving buffer).
After sending the data, the sender subtracts the unit from the buffer credit given to the recipient; if the loan is reset, then the further transfer to this recipient is suspended; the recipient after receiving the data sends to the sender an acknowledgment of receipt of the frame (ACK); the sender, having received a loan, adds one to the buffer loan; if the loan was previously zero, then the suspended transfer is resumed
