How to force (maybe using some tricky patch) Samba server 3.5 to work on a separate user database and passwords, without using those created in the system, and also without using a separate LDAP for this.

I know for sure that this is possible, but the smbpasswd and pbdedit utilities require that you have a Nix system user or a connection to an LDAP server to search for these users.

This is not possible because the access rights for samba are taken from local users. You can disable users logging on to the system locally.
