There is a computer running Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit (Build 7600) 6.1.7600. It has a static IP. VMware Workstation 9.0.0 build-812388 is installed on the computer. A Win XP virtual machine has been created there. The firewall is disabled for all cases.

Case 1 : VMWare uses NAT (VMnet8). Win7 and WinXP respond. Internet on the guest OS (WinXP) is present. It seems to be all right, but the hosts on the Internet do not respond from WinXP: Destination host unrichbl. Please tell me what it can be connected with?

Case 2 : The Host-Only adapter type (VMnet2 network created) is used to connect WinXP. DHCP is not used.

Win7:IP: 191.168.137.1 NetMask:255.255.255.0 WinXP:IP: 191.168.137.2 NetMask:255.255.255.0 GateWay:191.168.137.1

Between themselves, Win7 and WinXP are pinging. There is no Internet on WinXP. Computers on the Internet do not respond. On Win7, the Internet is shared (the main adapter -> properties -> access -> "Allow others ...", "Connect to the network: VMnet2", "Allow other users to manage ...").

Question : In the first case, how can I make hosts respond outside of the local network (VMnet8)? How can I have I-No on WinXP (maybe I did something wrong)? I tried to use UbuntuServer as a guest OS - the situation is similar. I tried to use version 8 of VMWare - the situation is similar.

Try not to use NAT or Host-only, but a network bridge.

When using Host-only mode, there will be no connection with the outside world.

For the NAT mode, it is not necessary to set up a network sharing, the main thing is that Gateway and DNS be registered in WinXP. What does the tracert mail.ru command on a machine with WinXP in NAT mode provide?

Case 1. For the passage of ping, it is necessary to complete the NAT. On the host we connect the LAN connection for VMnet8. In the virtual settings we specify the gateway.

Case 2. Case 2: Host-Only adapter type (VMnet2 network created) is used to connect WinXP. DHCP is not used. Win7: IP: 191.168.137.1NetMask: 255.255.255.0, as I understood the Internet should be through it (Where is the gateway and Nameserver DNS?) WinXP: IP: 191.168.137.2NetMask: 255.255.255.0GateWay: 191.168.137.1 It turns out on the Win7 Internet No, and on the WinXP Internet should be, this with Host-only can not be
