There are two virtual machines, on one stands Linux Mint 14 x64, on the other Debian Squeeze x64. For virtualization I use the VirtualBox program. The guest systems themselves are working. But when I try to connect a Logitech usb microphone (AK5370 - as defined by lsusb), Mint hangs right away. In Debian-e, the microphone seems to be defined.

This is what $ cat / proc / asound / cards shows:

0 [I82801AAICH ]: ICH - Intel 82801AA-ICH Intel 82801AA-ICH with STAC9700,83,84 at irq 21 1 [default ]: USB-Audio - AK5370 AKM AK5370 at usb-0000:00:06.0-2, full speed

$ Arecord --list-devices result:

 **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****card 0: I82801AAICH [Intel 82801AA-ICH], device 0: Intel ICH [Intel 82801AA-ICH] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0card 0: I82801AAICH [Intel 82801AA-ICH], device 1: Intel ICH - MIC ADC [Intel 82801AA-ICH - MIC ADC] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0card 1: default [AK5370 ], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

But it does not work. Moreover, if in the program Audacity in the settings directly specify this microphone as a recording device, then at the start of recording the system hangs tightly.

I tried all the tips from this article: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_mic_on_Linux

Nothing helped, but I am not good at administering linux systems, so I could miss something.

I will be glad to any hint :)

PS: host system - Windows 7 x64.

    Let's start with VB.
    VB with USB support (full version) can be downloaded only from the official repository. I guess you need it for Win.
    Accordingly, guest systems require their own VBoxLinuxAdditions - is it installed?

    • Yes installed. - Acrux
    • Try the instructions from here and from here - Justicet
    • @Justicet did not help. The same hang. It seems to me that the matter is in the very VirtualBox. - Acrux
