Please help an inexperienced, novice programmer ... I want to write an online shop website, set up my own virtual hosting and I can’t upload Magento engine to it. What is the problem I do not know, it simply does not update the page and does not write an error.

Check whether all the script requirements to the server are met.
Turn on error display. most likely it is off by default on the hosting.
Check php logs.
If nothing is clear - contact those support.

I can say on the example of IPBoard.
Having played enough on the locale, I connect via ssh to the host, copy the forum with all the applications, copy the backup of the base and deploy it there (I raise it from the backup). And all - all the changes already made on the host and available to users.
I think in your case about the same.
But this is only in case all the necessary servers are up and running (MySQL, Apache, nginx, etc., what you need).
In general, it is better to clarify the manual.

- Well, if the "novice programmer" wants to WRITE an online store - well, this can only be welcomed ... IMHO, there are enough ready-made solutions - both proprietary and [OpenSource] [1]. - inexperienced ... beginner ... can something thread easier? on a hashcode of such ambitious lately ... :) - thunder
- oneOf course, let them grow - all of us, too, once started somewhere. And it’s not worth it to Mr. @thunder `to do harm - he himself was a beginner, and perhaps no less ambitious :) I still study myself, I ask in profile forums or in conferences - Justicet
