Good day, experts. I uploaded wr842 DD WRT to TP-link, was pleased with the functionality, released it to reboot and ... Everything) There is no DHCP definition, the network stupidly sends packets to nowhere.

Is there any way to revive the device, maybe someone knows the service menu, or something like that at TPshek. Thank you in advance

TL-WR842 supports firmware recovery through a special utility that works on the basis of a tftp server. To restore the router, do the following:

    1. Download utility Tftpd v 32.400 .
    2. Download the latest firmware for TL-WR842ND from the official TP-LINK company site, unzip it and change the file name to “wr842ndv1_tp_recovery” (the “. Bin” permission should remain). TL-WR842ND_V1_120424 .
    3. Unzip the archive with the program. Place the firmware file in the same folder as the tftp32 program.
    4. Connect the router to the computer using a network cable. Change the IP address of your “local area connection” to 192.168.1.66, leave 255.255.255.0 for the mask, leave the Gateway and DNS server fields empty.
    5. Run the utility as an administrator. Check that the desired network interface is selected in the program. And when you click the Show Dir button, the file with the firmware wr842ndv1_tp_recovery.bin was in the list.
    6. Turn on the router, then hold the WPS / Reset Button until the USB indicator lights up.
    7. The TFTP32 utility will automatically download the firmware to the router.
    8. If the download process does not start, then restart the router without shutting down the program. After that, do not forget to return the receipt of the IP address automatically and wait a while until the router restarts and the PC receives the settings.

    PS Bonus.

The best firmware after restoring the factory - ddwrt v24 SP1 (Build10020). You can take it here: http://www.dd-wrt.com

    Good luck!

    • I apologize, but I do not like these VTR-vskie firmware! If I need anything, I go up there with the terminal and control the configs with my hands. There after all the same Linux! - areshin

Before you upload a new firmware, it is always desirable to keep the old one, just in case of a fire. Especially for those who forgot to do this, some old firmware is stored on a disk that was bundled with a router, from where you can restore it! And please, do not experiment with router firmwares, if you do not know (and judging by the question, it is), how they work! If the device works - do not touch it, for no reason at all! This is Occam's principle.

And even if the disk is lost, you can always download the native firmware from the company's website!

But did not try to register the parameters of the network interface on the PC manually and enter the router configurator?
