I am setting up balancing two channels on mikrotike and there was a problem.

There are two adsl modems connected to the eth3 and eth4 microtic ports. Eth2 looks to the local essence.

Created a bonding interface as slaves indicated eth3 and eth4, "balance xor" mode, level 3 and 4 of the OSI model. The speed is terrible, but traffic goes through both interfaces (eth3 and eth4). Disable one of the interfaces eth3 or eth4, the Internet flies.

Tell me the cause of the problem.

Bonding works only on the condition that bonding is also enabled on the second side. What you have, as you know, no, and is not expected. Network load distribution for two connections over the Internet is implemented completely differently - by means of NAT, for example.

I think you already guessed that everything is very simple and logical ...

      1. both channels work - everything is in normal mode, packets are distributed, everything is ok
      2. One channel fell off - and the microte doesn’t know about it ... because you didn’t tell him that it was necessary to periodically check the availability of the channel and, in case of falling off,:

        • stop using it
        • check the availability of the channel and, in the case of its (channel) self-elevation:
          • reuse channel

here it (mikrot) and sends packets with nimble megahertz on energetic connections into the fallen off channel. But, since the channel is rolled away, neither the packets, nor everything else gets anywhere and returns nothing.

      3. cut off one interface - "Yo!" shouts a mikrot, because he can monitor his interfaces himself. "Now everything is easy and simple," he continues to rejoice and drives the entire traffic through the remaining interface.

ZY You have only two DSL? Then the microt is from the cannon on the sparrows ... Although it is fenshuynko;)

      • The speed is terrible, regardless of whether the channel has fallen off or not. When both channels are working and the connection with the Internet is established, then the speed is none and the packets are lost. Maybe it's Link Monitor, I have none. - evgeniy
