There is a remote virtual server. When I rented it, I installed Ubuntu Server x32 there. Now it was necessary to change the system to 64-bit.

Question: How to properly reinstall the OS, along with all currently installed packages, and not to lose the data stored on the server?

    1 answer 1

Backup your server configuration files and all software you have installed. Install an operating system with support for the 64th architecture. Install all your packages. Restore your configuration files.

    • This is understandable, but how to get a list of all installed packages and transfer them to the new system (I don’t remember them by heart)? - Risto
