Hello dear! Already the second day I was tormented by the question about encoding.

What kind of encoding should be used when developing html , javascript , css and especially PHP scripts simultaneously on Win 7 and Linux ? To correctly display them in browsers such as: Chrome and Firefox , without the need to constantly adjust the encoding?

The fact is that when you install the UTF-8 encoding by default in phpStorm and phpDesigner , Firefox issues, excuse me, “rubbish” and the constant change of browser settings is not very encouraging. When using windows-1251 I’m not sure about the correctness of displaying it on linux , but this is my word.

So here is UTF-8 or windows-1251 ?

UTF-8 is unique, the encoding is much more capacious, there are no problems with other languages, etc.

Apparently, you do not have the appropriate headers, so see my answer here

    • Why unequivocally? There are huge (VKontakte) and small projects using cp-1251. - ivkremer Sep.

Well, let's say, I once suffered because of this, + most of what can be downloaded in the internet - in UTF-8 + corny there are special characters in it. Again, for a multilingual project, it is important that some German-French not be processed separately. Upd: for the sake of fun, it looked at it - it displays it via html-entity, &#NNNN; , I don't think this is a good way) - Sh4dow
