    You specify that you have a Windows. There are no similar problems under Linux.

    • ActivePerl - a famous old man, would start with him. I suspect that he is good because he has a paid version for a large enterprise.
    • Strawberry Perl includes MinGW and if you have packages with XS, then it seems to have to compile without problems (although experts can always write code like that under Windows it will never work).
    • DWIM Perl - the first time I hear about this.

    Although honestly - I would take Linux and did not worry. There are no these problems and in almost all distributions (including FreeBSD) perl is "out of the box".
