What code is meant? Are these documented features or some type of hacking?

Just now I use the java applet on the site page, which broadcasts udp data to the correct port, so that users can connect to the server from another program (not mine) simply by navigating to the desired site page. But this solution is not very popular, since the user must have java installed and the applet added to the exceptions. A solution with a separate program is also not suitable, as they will have to download something again, and this is a loss of a tangible audience.
That is, the goal is for the user to receive this broadcast on his computer without installing additional software. It does not matter if he has to confirm any actions in the browser itself, the main thing is that it does not need to manually install and run.

  • learn.javascript.ru/websockets - perhaps worth reading about it. - ArchDemon
  • Apparently you have two questions: about the code on the machine and about the java applet on the page, so they should be divided into two separate questions. According to the first, what was it all about? Maybe the "machine" is a client browser? And maybe they talked about the js-application (in Windows 8, they seem to start up without a browser, although I don’t know the details) For the second - what if flash is used? Almost everyone has it - BOPOH
