I am writing OSX application documentation, there are a lot of window shots in the documentation.

I take pictures through the standard application "Screenshot" ( Grab ). In the Mavericks, when a window was taken, a beautiful shadow was superimposed, after updating to Yosimite, the shadow disappeared.

Googled the command:

 defaults write com.apple.screencapture disable-shadow -bool false killall SystemUIServer

Did not help. How to return the shadow or are there alternatives to the Grab that can take pictures with the shadow?

    It turned out to be a strange bug, the shadow does not appear if you invoke the snapshot command from the Grab program menu, but there is a shadow when creating the snapshot via the key combination cmd + shift + 4 + space
