I need to make a corporate website on the layout, while using Office 365 Online (or SharePoint Server 2013) and SharePoint Designer 2013 (the latter is optional). I had absolutely no experience with SharePoint before, and had not even heard about it (and in general, I am still a student).

All that needs to be implemented on it is a news feed and gallery (obviously, with a normal addition, and not through the code). Layout design is nothing complicated, the main problem is SharePoint.

If you have met with detailed (based on zero knowledge of SharePoint) text or video lessons (tutorials) (at least in English), I will be extremely grateful for your tip.

PS The fact is that after creating the site, in the settings you can choose the design, but there is no download function or creating your own design. Hence the question. How to create your own design for SharePoint?

Thank!

Immediately take and change the design in SharePoint will not be easy, you will need to explore the architecture of SharePoint. I recommend the book "Pro SharePoint 2013 Branding and Responsive Web Development" , it has all the necessary data to change the design. I also recommend that you edit non-existing master pages, but use "start pages", they have very useful comments. Download here .
There is one more difficulty, on the basis of which it would be good for you to know how ASP.NET Web Forms works. Not MVC. The point is that when editing the master page you will not see the part of HTML that you will see in the browser. This is due to the fact that in ASP.NET there is such a thing as "control", it is declaratively inserted into the master page and generates HTML as it runs. But some controls can be customized, the documentation is on MSDN. Also in SharePoint there are "themes", you can edit existing ones or create your own, they are needed mainly to manage the background image and color schemes. They, by the way, correspond to the color scheme format in Microsoft Office Power Point.
Also in SharePoint there is a tool for creating master pages based on ready-made html layouts, more details here .
