Good day! Not so long ago on a fairly well-known blog, an article appeared on the redirection, 301 redirect to .htaccess. Where the author advises to make a redirect, both to the main mirror with WWW or without, and from the https: // secure protocol to http: // and even gives an example:

RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^443$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTPS} =on RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://abrek-ad-abra.ru $1 [R=301,L]

What turned me into a dead end. As far as I know, Google on the contrary for the popularization of https , gives additional bonuses to sites that use it http://habrahabr.ru/post/232629/ .

I believe that if there is SSL, it is better to send to it, and not from it. Why then use a secure connection to redirect it to normal? Please tell me if I misunderstand something. Thank!

  • I totally agree with you. I see no obvious reasons. Can you give a reference where you read it? - PCGeek
  • I support it - it's better with http to https , not even considering Google! - borodatych
  • Thank! It turns out that you should not take advice from an SEO guru at face value, most of which are just theorists who earn only by blogging. - Progress-project
