How to copy a file / folder on the ntfs section in the archive with the preservation of all the attributes?

Provided that the partition is mounted from under linux . Analogous to tar -cvf --same-permissions .

There are no problems with partitions - you just need to copy individual folders and files.

  • Is it possible in ms / windows ? - aleksandr barakin
  • @alexanderbarakin, under Windows, rar and 7z are able to preserve NTFS rights and altstreams (when specifying the corresponding key). Under linux, this functionality is naturally cut as unnecessary. Perhaps there is some analogue of the /save and /restore icacls utility in the icacls , which allows you to save / restore the ntfs attributes to a separate file - then archiving with the rights will not be a problem. - Sergey Rufanov

This is not possible, since the NTFS driver for Linux does not support Windows ACLs. - gbg

    • Yes, I read. I'm not sure that this is not implemented anywhere, because partclone.ntfs perfectly retains all rights. It certainly works at the block level, but still. - don Rumata

@donRumata, I think, precisely because "it works on a block device." in your question, actually, this is mentioned. - aleksandr barakin
