Moved swap to another section. In / etc / fstab indicated the new uid. Now during system operation, if a swap is accessed, it is not cleared. Watching the download in htop. When increasing the load, the swap is used; when reducing the load, it is not cleared. Before the move was not like this. I am worried about the normality of this behavior, can this mean that swap does not work correctly?

  • similar behavior though set up swap when installing ubuntu 15.10 - Ildar Khasanshin
  • Does the system have to clear the swap? what is she to do more than what is not? But when there is not enough space, then she herself and clean up, if there is something. But if not ... then you need to look for where the memory leak in applications. - KoVadim

Put the swap into the crown (under the super-user):

swapoff -a && swapon -a

On my server, too, the swap is not very free. Grows gradually. But it does not bother me yet. Very rarely do I clean the pens.
