It was on CubieBord'e. Perhaps the ports do not pull the power supply over current. As an option, try a USB hub with external power, again, the native power supply can not "give out" the necessary amperage. For me, on the "Cube" everything was decided by replacing the power supply unit of the board from 5V 1.5A to 5V 2.5A.
