Such a problem: suddenly the contents of the home folder on the desktop began to appear, which made the latter look like a column with ads. These are not links, but files and folders. I have Ubuntu 14.04. By the way, I attached a screenshot where you can see that the folder "Home folder" and "Desktop" have the same address.
In the settings of the file manager Nautilus there is no menu item (it was advised in the network) "Displaying the contents of the Home directory on the Desktop" and nothing similar. In the Ubuntu Tweak Tool, the "Desktop" section is also missing. Yes, and rewrote it already for a long time - it does not help.
Watched the file ~ / .config / user-dirs.dirs:
XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/" XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR="$HOME/Загрузки" XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/" XDG_PUBLICSHARE_DIR="$HOME/" XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR="$HOME/Документы" XDG_MUSIC_DIR="$HOME/Музыка" XDG_PICTURES_DIR="$HOME/Изображения" XDG_VIDEOS_DIR="$HOME/Видео" How to fix the situation?
