There is a server in Win 2012 R2 whose main role is “file storage” and providing domain users with access to these folders. Also, since there are many files (more than one TB), deduplication has been enabled.

But it so happened that the Win server had to be reinstalled. Now I have the following problem:

most files have become inaccessible. That is, if a presentation opens, for example, then PP cannot open it, the same can be in Word and in other applications. When you try to copy a file over the network, you get the error: error 0x80070780.

Actually the question:

Re-enable deduplication solve the problem? Or do you need to do as they write some faced with this, removing the disk from one PC and connecting to another? Pulling the disk out of the server will be problematic for me.

  • And after reinstallation, did you try to re-enable dedupulation? Seen posts on the net that helps. Why not try? - Ella Svetlaya
  • Yes, I did it :) Exactly, I just turned it on and it all worked. It was terrible :) I was afraid that if I turn on this feature, the server may not think that the partition has already been deduplicated and he again decides to do the same, in the end the files will become unusable. - Amateur

The issue is resolved. I have included the role of deduplication at my own risk again. After the reboot, information about the percentage of disk space was saved in Server Manager immediately. Access to files also appeared immediately after a reboot.
