I decided to install the Nvidia video driver on Ubuntu, and that's what I did:
1) Ctrl + Alt + F1
2) entered username and password
3) sudo service lightdm stop
4) sudo init 3
5) cd путь к файлу драйвера
6) sudo sh ./NVID*
After that, the driver installation went, during which a window emerged of something like "the installation can zafelititsya, continue?", I clicked foolishly and the installation continued.
After installing the driver, I entered the sudo service lightdm start
, after which the operating system did not sudo service lightdm start
. Turned off the computer holding the shutdown button. Every time you turn on it hangs on the Ubuntu logo.
How I tried to solve the problem:
According to the instructions from the answer to a similar question followed all the steps:
1) when included in the grub chose the item ubuntu, whith Linux XXX-XX-generic (recovery mode)
2) I chose failsafeX
from the menu
3) A window appears
4) I click OK, the following window appears
He tried all the options, clicked on everything one by one as an old page, nothing helped.
5) At this point I tried to press Ctrl + Alt + F1 , but instead of entering the login and arol I see this:
The same, but better seen text:
There is no way to enter commands, just goes to a new line by pressing Enter
Question: What should I do to at least return to the state when I worked with the old driver? (there are no backups, unfortunately) How to solve this problem?
