Recently, I was given an easy at first glance task.

It is given: JAR-application without sources, which crashes when launched with an error due to the fact that the author abandoned the project.

Task: Replace one file "on the fly", which requests software from the network, and thus revive it.

Solution: We take Fiddler, Charles and feed it with the missing file from my site, while she addresses to: avtorpage.com/dl/update.lst , and the file is mypage.com/dl/update.lst from mypage.com/dl/update.lst , but the whole problem in that it communicates through the Socket http connection, because of this, the above two tools do not see it.

Question: What to do? Decompiling is not an option, covered with Zelda and do not want to violate the rights of the developer.

Just replace the avtorpage.com address of avtorpage.com with the address mypage.com . In the file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts make an entry 1.2.3.4 avtorpage.com where instead of 1.2.3.4 write the mypage.com address of mypage.com . In this case, all traffic for avtorpage.com will go to mypage.com . If required, the server mypage.com must be configured to accept the foreign domain name in queries as a native one. - Sergey

Another option is redirection by means of a firewall. How to do - look for manuals on netsh . This may even be the only way, if it turns out that this program does not use dns, and in it a certain un-shnik is sewn up. - Sergey
  • If you tell me how to redirect the link, I will be very grateful. - JuniorD
