mc.yandex.ru - what kind of service, maybe someone knows? I was looking for a similar service on their website, but I did not find anything similar. I know for sure that this service is related to web development.

    @YuriySvetlov is an internal technical detail of Yandex, which is still not used directly (but only appears in the metrics counter code) and there is no particular benefit from knowing the purpose of this domain. This domain is used by Yandex.Metrica.

The URL of the form //mc.yandex.ru/watch/некое_число gives a 1-pixel GIF image, which is useless by itself. But value is a request , not an answer to it.

Yandex collects data from requests and considers statistics from the received data. This way of collecting statistics works without JS! It will save from him except that disabling the display of pictures in the browser.

And on //mc.yandex.ru/metrika/watch.js is the JS-part of the tracker, which is able to collect more data.

    @edem restrictions on actions of this kind, as far as I know, are valid only for personal data . Yandex, in terms of using Metrics , denies this, they say, the system is automated, data is not tied to specific individuals, and Metric users undertake to comply with the rules for processing personal data. - D-side
