Is it possible to use UWP controls in a WPF application?

  • You mean the system (these can not), or written by you personally (these can often be transferred)? - VladD
  • @VladD, I meant the system, and specifically wanted to use MediaElement. - Lightness

Not. WPF and UWP are completely different incompatible platforms. They even have a different runtime.

However, it is difficult for me to imagine a situation when you may need to control UWP in a WPF application. Typically, WPF has more complete controls that are better suited for working with a desktop. If you need a “metro” design, then on the Web, there are enough sets of styles that imitate a plane, including free ones.

As for the MediaElement, it also exists in WPF.
