Often I meet references written in escape sequences with the percent symbol as a separator for the encoded character. What is this technology used for?

They are used to transmit special characters. eg

You need to pass a parameter whose value is R&D , if you just add it to the url

     url?param=R&D

It can be noted that the value of the parameter will actually be R , since & serves to separate the parameters.

When using escape , we get the string

     url?param=R%26D

    which is perfectly transmitted.

I think it is worth mentioning that, by standards, url can contain only some characters and Latin characters. A Russian standard can not be, and they must be encoded - Mike
