Hello!

Tell me, please, what could be the problem, add an alternate IP address (192.168.1.201) to view another subnet and I have half the computers in the browser of the network from the 15th subnet? enter image description here

I noticed that in IPCONFIG an alternative IP address is 1.201 - for some reason - BASIC, and if you check the route table (route print), you can see that the computer 15.201 goes through 1.201. enter image description here

How can I make 15.201 - BASIC? Or what can be done so that when prescribing an alternative IP, computers do not disappear in the browser? No reassignment of mask or subnet.

I tried to put the metric in manual "1", with the first "route print" it goes through the 15th subnet, with the second through the first one. I tried adding “IPAutoconfigurationEnabled” to the registry did not help. As soon as I remove the 1st subnet, all the computers appear in the browser.

  • What can you do. This is how netbios, the protocol used to browse the network, works. It binds to only one address per physical interface. I do not know whether even a WINS server installation will help in this situation. It is necessary to move to modern protocols. - Sergey
  • Thanks for the answer. What do you mean by modern protocols? - Thrillseeker
  • Active Directory - Sergey
  • So he is set up. I can’t even imagine a network without AD, how much will it be) And what about the disappearance of computers with AD in such a situation? What can you think that this was not? - Thrillseeker
  • Pro ad lied. It seems everything new has come along with ad, which is, generally speaking, wrong is not so. There are in Windows some new services for network research, except for the old netbios. netbios used to know well, but did not learn new ones. Can you just install a second network card? Here technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc940063.aspx is a section of NetBIOS Name Registration and Resolution for Multihomed Computers . - Sergey
