Weight day I suffer this is what I did, I did not completely remove the hike and I am going to install it again and there are problems. RVM issues the following warning.

WARNING: for a list of maintained rubies visit: bugs.ruby-lang.org/projects/ruby/wiki/ReleaseEngineering Please consider upgrading to ruby-2.3.0 which will be the latest security patches.

  • Describe in more detail how to put? Through rvm? - cheops
  • Yes, through rvm, but right here, what is being cursed is WARNING: Please be aware that you’re no longer maintained (2016-02-24), visit: bugs.ruby-lang.org/projects / ruby / wiki / ReleaseEngineering Please consider upgrading to ruby-2.3.0. - Rasulov Hamzat
  • rvm allows you to install several versions of ruby and for each of them keeps its own set of gems. Can you just install 2.3.1 and switch to it? Usually, rvm and ruby are not demolished, but simply install all the versions that are needed for work - there may be many, one project needs 1.9.3, another 2.0.0, the third 2.1.0, and the fourth - 2.3.1. rvm allows you to install and simultaneously use all versions. - cheops

If the installation was done via rvm, simply delete the .rvm folder of the home directory

rm -rf ~/.rvm

Also, check the ~ / .bashrc and ~ / .bash_profile files in your home directory and delete the following lines, if any

 [[ -s "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm" ]] && source "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm" export PATH="$PATH:$HOME/.rvm/bin"
  • And I completely deleted these files by accident - Rasulov Gamzat
  • Not very clear what files? We are not able to see your console, the more you report what is happening, it will be easier for those answering to advise something specific. It is not clear yet, does rvm work for you? For example rvm list known? Does ruby work for you? For example ruby -v? Please describe the problem in more detail, feel free to add your question - you can edit it. - cheops

rvm --help clearly shows how to remove it:

implode :: (seppuku) removes the rvm installation completely. This means everything in $rvm_path (~/.rvm || /usr/local/rvm). This does not touch your profiles. However, this means that you must manually clean up your profiles and remove the lines which source RVM.

That is, the RVM itself is sawed off with one command:

 rvm implode

This will erase all the interpreters installed in its framework, gems and source codes of extensions. Plus, you will need a small sweep of the shell configuration files ( .bashrc , .bash_profile , .zshrc , etc.) manually from the lines in which RVM is mentioned.

If you still managed to install ruby , rubygems or something else related to Ruby from the system repositories ... Leave. RVM will allow you to switch to system Ruby if necessary, it will not hurt you.

But if it still interferes, erase it through Synaptic, it is in the system by default. Most likely enough "complete removal" (purge) packages ruby and rubygems . When deleting, you will have to erase all dependent packages, and the removal process will ask for confirmation. Scroll through the list to see if anything is there.

That's it, go to the RVM website and follow the RVM installation instructions from there.

    Like this:

     sudo apt-get purge ruby
    • So it doesn’t completely delete the files - Rasulov Gamzat
    • Yes, I fixed everything, thank you so much. Here is another question, what will happen if the files ~ / .bashrc and ~ / .bash_profile are not in the home directory at all - Rasulov Gamzat
    • The backlight in the console will disappear, some programs may not work if they wrote something down there. It is better to restore at least the original files for your distribution. Ask a new question, SO is not welcome to solve several problems in one question. - cheops
    • How to restore it, don’t tell me - Rasulov Gamzat
    • @RasulovGamzat, yes you ask a new question - collect a lot more answers than in the commentary on an answer to a question that does not apply to Linux / Mint - cheops
