I bought a monitor, checked for broken pixels - everything is cool.
Brought home (brought !!!), connected via dvi-cable + adapter to thunderbolt-full purple screen with green stripes
He took it back, decided not to show off and bought an HDMI wire + adapter on DVI. Connected - the screen is black, but working (I can transfer program windows to it from a laptop, but the screen is black and I can't see anything on it)

What could be the problem?

  • It is necessary to switch the monitor to the 'clone' mode of the desktop. It is done in the settings of the screen, in each operating system - in its own way. Also clarify whether the monitor is visible in the diagnostic utility from the computer. This will answer the question what the problem is. Additionally, you can try to connect the monitor to another PC for diagnostic purposes. - gecube

  • I understand that you connected it to another computer via VGA and did it work? Then there are two options: a) read the instructions on the monitor and find how to switch inputs (some monitors do not know how to machine, although I have seen such units), b) connect another monitor that is known to work via DVI, monitor to MAC and make sure that this is not a problem with a video card. - Alekcvp 2:19 pm
