Hello! I will describe the situation: I have a ready project in Android Studio and I got the idea to make another application, more advanced, which will be some full version of an existing project. I would like to know how not to resort to creating a new project and not to waste time transferring all the data to this project from an existing one. Can I make a copy of an existing application and work with this copy as with a new application?
- oneTo do this, you can use the mechanism of branches in Git - YuriySPb ♦
- Do not quite understand. Could you be more specific - Vyacheslav161
- The brunch mechanism in version control systems is not at all for this. And besides, it is not clear if there is any in the project. - Eugene Krivenja

The mechanism of flavours is quite suitable for you. Read here https://developer.android.com/studio/build/build-variants.html#product-flavors
Or you can take out the general functionality in the library module and on the basis of it create two application modules. One will call only library classes and have its own manifest, the second will have something extra.
Both options are potentially working, the choice depends on the details of the project.
