I use the mail program Windows Live Mail 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331). The reason for her choice once was the fact that only she knew how to work with maykrosovtovskoy mail @ live.ru according to the http-local protocol here, but in general she suits me by all the criteria: does not mix mailboxes into a bunch, but allows you to customize quick views. There is a grouping by topic. And the interface is convenient.

But some time ago I received several letters from mykrosovta that access to live.ru-mail from it will work only until the end of June:

We noticed that you are connecting to your Outlo‍ok‍.‍com account using the Windows Live 2012 Mail app. Please note that Windows Live Mail 2012 does not support synchronization technologies that are used in the new Outlo‍ok‍.‍com service. After updating your account at the end of June, you can neither send nor receive e-mails in your Outlo‍ok‍.‍com account using the Windows Live 2012 Mail app. Do not worry, you can log in to your Outlo‍ok‍.‍com account via a web browser at any time and still be able to access all the data currently in the Windows Live 2012 Mail app.

As a solution, the letter suggests upgrading to a dozen (I have Win7) or getting a one-year subscription to Office 365:

If you are running Windows 7, you can upgrade to a newer version of Windows to use the Mail app. If you do not want to perform the update, you can work with your account via a web browser or use the free Annual Off‍ice 3‍6‍5 subscription and use Outlook 2016 to connect to your account. * Outlook 2016 works on Windows 7, Windows 8 / 8.1 operating systems and Windows 10.

Is there any way to continue using WLM? What protocol did they switch to - maybe you just need to add an account again with imap? In this case, what settings should be specified?

If the answer to the WLM question is negative, which free email programs can be used to access mail from Windows 7? And how to set them up?
