Now in the configuration file /etc/mysql/my.cnf you can not specify an empty port directive, you also can not specify the --port parameter without a value. Previously it was assumed that if you do not specify a port, you mean 3306, now you should write it explicitly
[mysqld] ... port = 3306 However, in your case, this directive should be eliminated altogether, since your connection is established through a socket and the network port is not required at all. Check the /etc/mysql/my.cnf configuration file and remove the port directive from there.
