I have Ubuntu 12.04LTS. The message "low disk space" appears constantly.

I do not know and do not understand how to remove. I would really like to learn myself, but I can not understand.

I wanted to install Ubuntu 14.04LTS, but I can’t get it because of "not enough disk space". Tell me how to do it.

I attach an image from the terminal:

Take a larger disk. or add a second one. And no one can decide for you which files are needed on your system and which are not. What do you have so much space in / home, maybe something worth deleting is there? In general, 10-15GB on modern linux systems is not enough, if you are not a guru and you can’t decide whether you need it for each OS component or not - Mike
  • Good day. Tell me about the amount of memory in question? Do you have a hard disk on your hard drive? What is the amount of memory RAM? In the screenshot, you have Ubuntu in the Unity environment. If the computer is not new, then maybe it is worth trying ubuntu with the LXDe environment? Execute the code in the terminal and send the info sudo fdisk -l - Gocareera.ru
  • A little off topic. There is a key on the keyboard "Print Screen". There is from time immemorial. If you press it once, it will do the same as you did with your mobile phone / camera, only faster and better. - don Rumata

Now on the topic: if the operating system writes that "there is not enough disk space", it means that there is not enough disk space (suddenly!). Complement the question with the output of the "df -h" and "sudo fdisk -l" commands. - don Rumata

Constantly appear "little disk space"

most likely, a speech about the lack of free space in the file system. You can delete “extra” packages and “extra” files in your home directory ( /home/имя-пользователя ).

I wanted to install Ubuntu 14.04LTS, but I can’t get it because of "not enough disk space".

and here, most likely, we are talking about the absence of unallocated disk space.

You can (directly in the installer) delete, for example, those partitions that are currently used by ubuntu 12.04 . there should be at least two of them - the root partition (with all these files and directories, what you see on the photo you attached) and the swap partition ( swap ) and continue the installation — the installer will find the free space itself.

Attention! - while all your saved files / directories "disappear", and those that you really need, it makes sense to save to some other media.
