In VirtualBox, in setting up a specific virtual machine there is an option to enable and disable the shared clipboard. By default it is off. Maybe you in vmvare too off? guest tools (virtual drivers) are in the guest machine? - don Rumata

Install SSH in Ubuntu and connect via putty with Windows.

For this you need:

  1. Install ssh sudo apt-get install ssh

  2. Configure the network on the virtual machine: in the virtual machine settings in the network adapters, select a bridge through your physical network adapter in order for Ubuntu to be on the same subnet as Windows.

SSH connection

Copy and paste as much as you like with Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V.
