On the Dell XPS15 laptop Dell XPS15 were problems with the audio driver, periodically the sound did not work when the system was started. I decided to reinstall pulseaudio , now the sound is completely gone :)

Attempts to solve the problem:

sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base sudo apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio sudo apt-get install alsa-base sudo apt-get install pulseaudio

Does not help

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

options snd-hda-intel model=auto

Does not help

In the audio settings in the Output writes Dummy Output

There are no devices on the input (previously there was a microphone)

Put PPA with audio-dev , did not help

In the settings of alsamixer v.1.1.0 I set everything to the maximum, it does not help.

alsamixer displays card type: HDA Intel PCH Chip: Realtek ALC3266

Rugged instructions for installing Realtek firewood for the Dell XPS15, the links on the Realtek website are broken.

If you are faced with a similar problem, tell me how to fix it and what other options are there, a deaf-mute laptop is sad :)

Restart alsa

sudo alsa force-reload

There is a Warning

/sbin/alsa: Warning: Processes using sound devices: 1129(pulseaudio). Next, perform:

pulseaudio -k

sudo alsa force-reload

everything is OK, no warnings.

sudo pkill pulseaudio && pulseaudio -D

Daemon running

The sound appeared, but you have to restart the pulseaudio every time you start the system.

  • Just for the sake of experimentation - does it work on other distros? Fedor, Opensyuzi. - don Rumata
  • Unfortunately there is no opportunity to conduct tests, the system is working, it's a pity to demolish :) - Invision
  • Roll the whole screw through the Clonezilla Live CD somewhere and try another distribution. You can download it here: free.nchc.org.tw/clonezilla-live/stable , iso is written to the iso flash drive via tuxboot.sf.net - don Rumata
