Today I updated, but Sublime Text began to crash and consume a lot of RAM. Where can I download old versions? For some reason I did not find links to them on the official website. Past versions of Sublime Text are available only on some file sharing services with SMS and other garbage, but there is also no download from there.

Yes, there is not very clear done. Go to the download page, copy the link for your OS. For example, the link https://download.sublimetext.com/Sublime%20Text%20Build%203124.zip , replace 3124 with the last build number, https://download.sublimetext.com/Sublime%20Text%20Build%203114.zip . You can download old versions from the official site, - and in this answer I described how - however, please note that this will be a β€œclean” Sublime Text without plug-ins and settings. In this out-of-the-box text editor, quite limited functionality is supplied, and manual installation of everything you need can take a long time. Therefore, with your permission, I will supplement the answer with instructions on how to quickly return to the previous settings, workspace and plugins.

There is such a category of software that is widely spread enough, is updated quite rarely, every few months, but when it is updated, everything is broken, a lot of fatal errors take off, and the forum of this software is filled with angry messages from disgruntled users. The most vivid example in my memory is the Wikipedia engine. Alas, but Sublime Text can also be attributed to such software.

Error prevention after update

Downgrade - when you can roll back to the previous or any version, and continue to work quietly with your plugins, user settings and workspace, Sublime Text is not provided.

Therefore, before updating, make a copy of the folder where Sublime Text is installed. If something goes wrong, and you do not have time to understand and / or wait for the developers to fix the program, you can run the executable copy file and work in the previous version. Unless periodically the program will offer to be updated.

In addition, I set up a weekly synchronization of the folder with Sublime Text with the Karen's Replicator program on removable media.

Manual return to the previous version

If you have not made a copy, updated, and everything flies to hell, you can do a downgrade manually. This section provides instructions for 32-bit Windows Sublime Text Portable. I hope to figure out how to roll back with a different software and hardware environment.

Downloading the previous build of Sublime Text

In the active Sublime Text Alt + H β†’ Changelog window β†’ see which version preceded the current one. At the time of writing this answer, the active version is Build 3124, the previous one is Build 3114.

** Build 3114 **

Go to the download page Sublime Text on the official site. Copy the desired link for your operating system. For me, the link is https://download.sublimetext.com/Sublime%20Text%20Build%203124.zip , replace 3124 - the number of the previous build - to 3114, it turns out https://download.sublimetext.com/Sublime%20Text%20Build%203114.zip . Paste the modified link into the browser β†’ download Build 3114 β†’ unpack the archive.

Return to previous settings

From the folder where the updated version of Sublime Text is installed, copy into the folder where you just unpacked the old Build Sublime Text, two directories - Data and Packages .

** Data and Packages **

Personally, after this copying operation, everything worked without failures with the previous settings.

Solving problems in the new version

When you have time, take a look at the Sublime Text forum , for sure there should be topics, moreover fixed ones, about critical errors after updates. I do not know the details of your problems, and I did not encounter them myself, but most likely you should pay attention to the following post:

High CPU Usage in Beta 3124

If you have not found topics on your forum for your problem, create it yourself by listing the steps to reproduce as accurately as possible.

Here are links to 3 version files. Below is a list of builds. If, for example, you need a version for Ubuntu x64, then replace this link - https://download.sublimetext.com/sublime-text_build-3124_amd64.deb with the numbers "3124" to the number of the required build.

For the second version of the link and a list of previous versions are here .
