It is terribly frustrating that when changing the language (alt + shift), the focus of the active window is lost - be it working in MS Office, typing a message in Skype, writing code in VS, writing something in a browser, notebook, etc. and the like. Googled this problem - but found answers only for linux, Ubuntu and other operating systems. Maybe this is exactly the problem of laptops on windows? I personally checked on other laptops (windows) and found the same problem, I can’t say anything about the desktops, as there is nothing to check.

How to solve this problem?

Mahou install, the torment with layouts should disappear. I forgot which default keys to switch layouts are used. // The problem is not reproduced on my PC. Thank. - Sasha Chernykh

Try changing the keyboard shortcuts to switch the keyboard layout , instead of switching the input language . enter image description here

  • I did not understand the answer, but most likely you meant to change the keys for switching the layout (from Russian to English) - I would not like to change the hot keys - I got used to alt + shift. - Duracell
  • For each input language, install an additional keyboard (see the first screenshot). Change input language to Ctrl + Shift. Alt-Shift switch the keyboard for the selected language (the icon of the keyboard in the tray). - Fenestron
