Good day! I have an Intel RS2BL040 board with 10 raids on board. Debian 8. I was forced to replace one disk. After starting the server, there is always one signal every 3 seconds (this is either a failure or Rebuild).

Below I give a list of commands and the result:

megacli -PDList -aAll | egrep "Enclosure Device ID:|Slot Number:|Inquiry Data:|Error Count:|state"

Result: Firmware state: Unconfigured (good), Spun down

megacli -PDRbld -ShowProg -PhysDrv [252:0] -aAll

Result: Device (Encl-252 Slot-0) is not in rebuild process

 megacli -AdpAutoRbld -Dsply -a0

** Result: ** Adapter 0: AutoRebuild is Enabled.

I don’t often deal with raids, so there were questions: 1) How to cure a beep signal from a crash or from Rebuild? 2) Why if AutoRebuild is Enabled then Device (Encl-252 Slot-0) is not in rebuild process? 3) Is megacli suitable for RS2BL040? 4) What am I doing wrong?)

  • I did the following: 1) I cleared the new disk with megacli -PDClear -Start -PhysDrv [252: 0] -a0 and manually started Rebuild with the following megacli -PDRbld -Start -PhysDrv [252: 0] -a0 command. 5 hours, I hope the result will be positive) But I can not understand why the automatic rebuild did not start? - Malus
  • Rebuild ended well. 2TB = 300 minutes. - Malus
  • Who will answer the answer, AutoRebuild does not work and how to fix it? - Malus

megacli outdated. Try a more convenient (both by command and by output format) tool - storcli . Version 1.19.04 is here .

To start rebuilding the array, try switching the disk to the HotSpare state HotSpare following command:

 storcli /c0/eX/sY add hotsparedrive

To find the numbers X and Y - run the command

 storcli /c0/eall/sall show

and see which disk you are in the UGood state.

  • I did not dare to install storcli, but took note. Thank. - Malus
