It is necessary to choose a server for SOLR, how much memory is needed and how much a powerful server should be. The base will be spinning on it, in compressed zip format it is 1GB, in unpacked it is ~ 15GB somewhere, in csv format, it is> 6 million lines of records (documents).
The most important thing is to re-index it monthly, I do it in php through an extension. and according to my calculations it takes about 60 hours. Because 1000 documents I upload there for 35 seconds. (test did on virtualke, ubuntu 14x64)
