After moving to another city and connecting to the network there, almost all the sites with the specified error began to fall off. For example, when accessing xubuntu.org :

This site can't be reached

DNS address could not be found.

Try: Checking the proxy, firewall, and DNS configuration

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG

This site can’t be reached ...

I tried what is listed under Checking the proxy, firewall, and DNS configuration , but nothing helped.

As I understand it, the problem is with DNS servers ... The ByFly (Belarus) provider and for each region has its own DNS servers, well, or you can take the server from Google or Yandex.

I took from Google and added it to Network Settings - DNS :

Xubuntu Network Settings - DNS

It seems everything worked, but the problems remained (at least with what I encountered):

  • after reboot, the added IP address of the DNS server ( 8.8.8.8 ) disappears;
  • when accessing Git, Bitbucket crashes with the error Failed to connect to bitbucket.org port 443: Network is unreachable .

I used to be on Ubuntu and did not observe such behavior: that is, during transfers, nothing was “broken” - everything worked fine.

Why this problem may arise and how to deal with it?

OC : Xubuntu 16.04.1

    In general, by disabling IPv6, everything worked without unnecessary manipulation.

    PS It also works when the value is not Ignore , but Automatic, DHCP only .
