Tired of editing the rights to libapache2modphp, that’s actually the question, is it possible on ubuntu 16.04 to make php and apache work on behalf of the user, not on behalf of himself, so that you don’t have to set read / write permissions for all files, and when php creates files from itself; it defaults only www.

Or is the only way to move to PHP FPM + nginx?

You can use mpm_itk. In Debian and Ubuntu, there are acc. package. For RHEL-based systems, you can put Apache header files and collect them with pens (there are ready-made specs on the network for this).
